Newspaper worthy

I am so happy for the DAS Cheerleaders as they were featured on page 27 of The Morning Calm newspaper! Two of my photos were featured with the article and I am happy to say that this is the first time (to my knowlege) that any of my digital photography has been featured in, well, anything other than my own webpage! The best part is they actually spelled my name correctly!

I've cut back considerably on the number of appointments that I am taking because of school and other committments (not to mention its still super cold outside!). I had a wonderful session this past weekend with two beautiful girls and I am really happy with the photos that have come from that session.

Graduation photos are usually one of the last professional photos a woman has taken of herself with th other being her wedding photo. That is, professional without kids or a husband in the photo. So not only does a graduation photo mark a rite of passage, it is also likely th last portrait a woman will take. Although, these girls are so pretty I seriously doubt that...they'll probably end up being models on the covers of Vogue and other magazines I never have time to read. ;)

Next to the My Beauty Campaign session, senior portraits are my favorite sessions because there is so much emotion - excitement, happiness, joy, and even a little anxiety. At the time the portraits are taken the possibilities are endless and the sky is the limit. I just love the natural emotions that come through during these sessions. Makes me think of when I graduated...but lets not go there. Maybe one day I'll post my graduation photo...

Friends and birthday parties.

One of my favorite things about photography is taking photos of and for my friends. I got an opportunity to take photos at a friend's daughter's birthday party last weekend and it was so great! It was great to let the parents focus on the child instead of trying to take photos themselves (which is often the case at a kids birthday which means either mom or dad or both are not in many of the photos and lots of moments are missed).

I love this shot. If this was the only usable shot I had gotten from the entire party I would still be completely happy. I just love the look on dad's face.

It was just too much fun.

I am also the historian for PWOC (woman's Bible study group) which has been a real blessing in my life. I capture some of the most amazing moments. Not amazing because my photography is amazing (because it's not!) but amazing because of the women in the photos.

These are from the program "Ignite the Fire" and I just love them (especially the one above). These ladies are so special and loving, I am very grateful for our time together each week.

 There's music and tears...

in depth study and fellowship...

and did I mention music?

I am truely blessed by these woman.

Not bad for my first time

I've taken photos of almost everything - buildings, dogs, kids, couples, teenagers, concerts, cheerleading, etc. But today was my first time with a newborn. And I mean a NEWBORN - only 9 days old (I think they said 9?! I was distracted by the cuteness).

It was a lot harder and yet a lot easier than I thought it would be. I was comfortable handling a newborn (should be since I've had two), but I thought I would be all thumbs. It was super hard getting him to do what I wanted. Well, let me rephrase that: there was no way he was doing what I wanted, I just had to go with what he wanted and work with that. Hence being both harder and easier at the same time. I didn't have to worry about controlling what he was doing and at the same time I couldn't control what he was doing!

It all seems to have worked out pretty well. It was just a mini session so there are just a few photos but I love all of them. Hopefully they'll bring him back soon so I can take some more cute baby shots!

I think I did pretty good for a first timer.

Feels good to be caught up

I am completely caught up on all my photo editing! Nothing pending or waiting for my attention or any looming deadlines. This is really awesome considering I have 12 hours of college this semester <GULP>! I am also doing two of these classes without a text book because they havn't arrived yet <double GULP>. Ah, the joys of living overseas...

My big project is done - the DAS Cheerleaders KAIAC photos. I am burning the disks as I type.

I also have some other photos that I LOVE...

I LOVE these!

This little guy is just too cute and I just love the mother daughter shot below.

Just too wonderful.

Lots of smiling faces

Had the joy of working with two families and two best friends this past weekend. Of course then I got really ill and haven't been keeping up with this blog and even got delayed on my editing. But, I'm caught up now so I wanted to share because they are just to awesome for words.

This is the Love family and I absolutely LOVE them!

Part of the reason I love them is because they are Texans and Texans are the best.

I had a great time with the Love family and then I got to work with the Arroyo-Diaz family - she's 9months and still looks great. I mean, who looks like this at 9 months?! I didn't have to do any retouching at all and she's still this gorgeous...

So after this wonderful maternity session (she's having a boy by the way), I got to spend the morning with two BFFs that made my day. They were so much fun and couldn't stop giggling!

More photos of these girls to come...

Also, I am still working on the DAS Cheerleading photos - there's a TON of them and it's probably going to take me another two weeks to get everything edited and disks burned (but it's totally worth it!).

On a side note, I am taking 12 hours this semester so I will be limiting my sessions to make time for studying and homework (and to make sure my house doesn't fall apart). I am going to try really hard to keep up with my blog but don't be suprised if there is only 1 post a week.

That's all I can think of for now.
